Monday, May 25

Arrive in Anchorage; check in at North Hall Dorm on the UAA Campus. Dorm rooms are paid for RAPPS participants, but you must complete the registration form. Check in time is 3:00 P.M.

RAPPS rooms for May 24‐30 have been prepaid. Most of the RAPPS candidates will arrive on the 25th and depart on the 29th; some will arrive a day earlier or leave a day later, depending upon travel arrangements. Let UAA Conference Services know when to expect you by completing the summer reservation form. If you are bringing someone with you or staying longer than the period from May 24‐30, you should pay for extra days or extra people yourself. The rate is $35 per person per night.

The reservation form for RAPPS students can be found at the website above. Click on the left menu “Summer Guest Housing,” then click on “summer reservation form.” Complete the form and fax it to the number indicated on the form. Do this BEFORE you arrive at the dorm.

 

Miscellaneous Information

 

Laptops?

We will not use laptops during the daily sessions. Computers are available for your use in the consortium library. The UAA campus has wireless connectivity. It is your decision to bring a laptop or not. Not required for RAPPS.

Books?

RAPPS does not pay for books for courses. However, books and/or materials for the summer institute will be provided.

 

Meals?

Except for the continental breakfasts, you will be on your own for meals. Dorm rooms have do NOT have refrigerators and microwaves, although these may be available at the front desk. You may want to bring some comfort food for the dorm. Check with your district about provision for a per diem.

Transportation in Anchorage?

UAA Shuttle buses will run from the dorm to the BP Energy Center morning and afternoon, as shown on the schedule. Transportation to Father Oleska’s reception will be by private car pool.

 

Transportation to/from Anchorage?

Most districts have already made travel arrangements for sponsored travel of RAPPS students. RAPPS does not pay for travel to and from Anchorage. Please check with your district as you finalize travel arrangements.

 

Courses meeting during the institute?

Liz Boario’s class for 637 will NOT meet during the institute, but students will have an assignment. If you are enrolled in another class which meets during the institute evenings, you should plan to log into your class as usual; you will be excused from the RAPPS evening activities if you are attending another class.
